Confidence in UK banks plunged. Shares in Lloyds TSB fell by a 5%. Friday 16th Januray 2009. The government is also considering refinancing its preference shares in Lloyds Banking Group, created by the merger of Lloyds and HBOS A new range of bail out messages is expected to be announced shortly.
